Official Report.

I made two Bs and three As. Yeahhhhhh! haha Well I can relax now that I know what I made. I'm working today and tomorrow then I get my Christmas break. It is much needed for sure. Anyone thinking about being in the design business should be advised ahead of time that under pressure is a constant feeling, making deadlines are a must, and multitasking is a form of art. Seriousloy not to scare anyone, but if you can't take the heat and you don't like change you shouldn't try this curriculum. Graphic Design is fun and your co-workers are your family. Expect long hours spent with them in the office and sometimes extra time off for working hard on a project. Clients are necessary for designers to work so remembering that the clients needs and wants are first. They are footing bill so if you make them happy they will trust you to spend their money and they will probably come when they need to have another job completed. Also, marketing yourself, your company, and your ideas are important to know how to do. A designer that knows how to market will more likely get the job than a designer who might wonderful ideas, but doesn't know how to explain them.

Whew! Yet Another Project and Party at the Same Time

My last projects of the semester were to create a Zales commercial to advertise their website. That was pretty easy and I learned quickly what was important to remember about creating website commercials. On the other hand, making the handmade book was a difficult and stressful process. It took a while and several trips to the store, but I completed that project and I was satisfied with what I had done.
While I have class going on I also was co-chair of the holiday party sponsored by the Student Government Association. It was a challenging job, but I kind of like always having something that I need to accomplish. Juggling school, work, SGA, and home always makes me have to think about my schedule before planning and that is another thing I like about being busy.
I just want to say that I have made so many good friends from being in the SGA and I encourage anyone and everyone to join to, not only help out the community, but also make friends for life and memories you'll never ever forget. Our party last night was a blast. First, we started setting up and the school lost power. This was a little scary, but fun to decorate with just the light of the windows and skylight. Then when the decor was all in place we had to ride to Georgia Pacific and JK Nails to get a present for Kim. We had a fun ride jumping the curb at at school and cracking jokes the whole time. When we got back from our trip the party was getting ready to start and the power was back, thank God for that he was watching out for us. Also, the people were lined up at the door ready to give toys and canned foods. I was so excited at the sight of the people who were ready to give in such a tough economy. The food was great, the music was fun, and the dancing was the best. I love to dance! We did all kinds of stuff and we had a blast!

Overcoming Fears!

A lot of people are afraid to speak in front of an audience or present in front of class. I feel my face start to glow and my ears catch on fire when I have to present. My job as executive director is to keep everything organized and on time as well as being in charge of the production books and the presentation.  Instead of presenting I put myself in charge of  the budget and Gigi and Ryan said they would do the presenting. Thank God for that because I don't think I want to face my fears in front of the news on television. I think I need to work my up to it.

Randolph County Project.

Wow! Being in any art major is stressful work. In graphic design we had to create an entire campaign, proposal, presentation, and creative brief in three weeks. This is difficult, but at least I will know how to deal with difficult situations when I get in a job.. I have to mount the rest of the boards by this afternoon so I can have the presentation stuff ready. Whew! Hopefully God's will is for me to finish with a good outcome.

Graduation!!!!

Wow! I can't believe I made it this far. I am going to graduate in exactly 6 months. I am so excited inside and I just don't know what I'm going to do after this. Making my decision will be hard but I know I will strive to be the best designer I can possibly be.  Maybe I will get a job with a printing company or with a small company. I don't really want to work with a big agency at first, at least not until I get used to the field and how fast the pace is in industry. Maybe I'll go to a four-year school and get a degree in marketing or graphic design? It just depends on whether I get a job or not right out of college. If I decide to attend a four-year school I want to go to Appalachian or UNC- Greensboro.

Extreme Makeover!!!

Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming to Lexington to do a house for a family in need.  I wanted to volunteer and have the whole group of Student Government Association help out, but we didn't apply in time so they have all the volunteers they needed... Oh well maybe next time =/

This week's been pretty hectic. I have to finish a business proposal for the new company Randolph County Historic Landmark Preservation Commission. This is really important because I am going to be on television possibly while presenting the proposal to the client.
